Epic RPG Weekend Spotlight Game - Twilight Menagerie

As we get closer to Epic RPG Weekend, we want to spotlight certain games so everyone knows they should be grabbing a ticket ASAP! For our first game we are looking at the Twilight Menagerie, a ShadowDark / DarkSpace mash up game from long time Games and Stuff customer (and Game Designer) Ed Stark!

First off, thanks for being part of Epic RPG Weekend! What can you tell us about why you wanted to be a part of this event?

I'm a long-time game designer and TTRPG player and I've really enjoyed the resurgence in independent RPGs over the last few years. Players are gravitating towards many of these games and they are always popular at events.

Why did you pick the game system you did?

ShadowDark and DarkSpace have really hit the industry at the right time with the right material. I've played and enjoyed both and I thought to myself, "hey, we've had SF-Fantasy mash-ups before." Metamorphosis Alpha, Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, Gamma World--lots of "you got your SF in my fantasy!" And I've done it a lot for my home games.

What about your scenario should players be excited about?

I think I've run some version of Barrier Peaks over 12 or so different systems.
But Twilight Menagerie, a mashup of ShadowDark and DarkSpace, isn't just a trip back into the Peaks. It's a completely original adventure that draws on both systems and both settings. We'll see how it works--and I'm going to try to throw a whole bunch of custom terrain and monsters into the mix!

What have you been preparing to make your game "Epic" for this event?

I have been painting loads of cool sci-fi terrain and miniatures for this game. I have tried to take these pieces to the next level and incorporated lights and more! Here are just a few pics of things I have had in the works.
